Sarah Dessen is a phenomenal author. She has written many novels for young girls. Sarah Dessen knows just how to target a young audience and help them relate to her characters. As everyone knows, being a teenager is rough. Sarah Dessen’s books definitely capture that awkwardness and confusion of being a teenage girl. For example, Keeping the Moon is about a confused young teenager, who is forced to spend the summer with her eccentric aunt. Colie, short for Nicole, spends the summer working at the Last Chance restaurant and hanging out at her aunt’s house. She makes new friends with two girls she works with, who happen to live right next door. Colie goes from being a shy, confused girl, to happy and outgoing. Not only does she become comfortable in her own skin, but she also learns that life is not always about being perfect. Sometimes, the broken parts are what make everything so special.

Keeping the Moon

I am one of the biggest book worms around. That being said I have decided to add to my blog by writing small reviews and recommendations on the most recent books I have read. I have always had a passion for reading, even though I am not the best writer. I love that you can lose yourself in an entirely different world.

For my first recommendation, I chose Jennifer Weiner’s Good in Bed.Her novel is about a young women going through dramatic life changes, such as break up, pregnancy, and dealing with all the problems the world throws at her. Candice Shapiro is a lively character that deals with being overweight, having her sex life published in a magazine, and having a lesbian mother. I thought Jennifer Weiner did an excellent job tying all these issues together and making it work. Not many could pull of this kind of story. I was extremely into this novel. I also love that the book didn’t end with Candice losing a ton of weight and become the image she thought she wanted, instead she learns to be content with how beautiful and real her body is. I could not put this book down at all, I am happy that Jennifer did write a sequel, which I hope to read soon =]

Good in Bed

After a VERY long break, I have returned to crafting! And my blog. =] I am happy to say that I started and finished a very awesome project. I have been surfing the net on my down time and came across many ideas. I found lots of very pretty fabric, that I just HAD to have! This past Saturday, as I sat eating breakfast, I decided my slump was over! Since then I worked hard on my very first apron. I used the awesome cupcake material I had bought because I am indeed a baker/awesome cupcake maker =D I couldn’t choose between the yummy brown and the tasty purple. so I made the apron reversible! woo! Here is the brown side…..

And here is a close up of the bottom corner, which I had sewn with right sides facing and then turned it right side out and ironed it before making it very pretty!
